Originally the FJR comes with a system that automatically retracts the windshield to its lowest position whenever the ignition is switched off.
This feature can become annoying on long trips because it makes one have to adjust the windshield to the ideal position whenever one has to stop for refuelling or anything else, so I decided to make a small modification in order to keep the windshield always in the same position, even after switching off the bike’s ignition.
Despite this modification, the windshield electrical rising and lowering button remains operational as before. On the other hand and according to the experience of other FJR owners, who already had this modification done, it doesn’t affect the windshield elevation electrical motor.
This modification is very easy and quick to carry out. After removing the right side of the dash panels, , you just have to disconnect a small plastic plug circuit underneath the dashboard LCD display, as shown in the pictures below:
