  Trip preparation calendar:

03.Jan.2003-We started planning our Norway trip during our weekend in Nordeste.
10.Feb.2003-I made the first route map passing by Great Britain.
14.Mar.2003-I received and installed the new heavy bar ends from Bike Johnny.
03.May.2003-I ordered a new set of Bridgestone BT-020 tires. The Metzeler wore-out far too fast and are said to be less adherent under slippery conditions.
06.May.2003-I ordered a DIGI speed gear indicator to avoid searching for the 6th gear during all the trip ...
10.May.2003-We met at my sister Annie and Manuel Carreiro's house for a great barbecue and to make a final decision about our trip route map. We still considered going to Kapp-Nord while in Norway, a "must" to every biker that visits this country, but we would need an extra 3 days to do it, so we gave up the idea.
14.May.2003-I designed the trip's logo to add to all our documents as well as to print and stick on our 3 bikes.
16.May.2003-I made the trip's check list.
18.May.2003-After contacting Vera & Francis from Belgium FJR1300 Club, on Internet, we changed our trip 1st leg route to stay in their charming Boothotel "La Peniche". We hope to met other Belgium FJR mates there.
19.May.2003-Thanks to our Norwegian friend Henning Sunde advice we made another change to our Norway journey route, passing by Flam and taking the panoramic train to Myrdal. I hope that now we found our final and ideal route !
21.May.2003-After replacing my old GIVI top case rack for the new SR346 tubular one, which is more resistent and comfortable for the passenger, today I also had my radio / CD connection replaced to fit the new rack.
23.May.2003-BP is sponsoring this trip by providing the oil for our bikes.
24.May.2003-I received and mounted my Shark RSR Summum helmets new iridium shields that offer a great sun protection, avoiding the use of sunglasses that may hurt you after a 10 hour riding journey.
24.May.2003-Once again I integrated the comity of hundred of local "motards" that every year pay a tribute to "Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres", the largest and most famous religious festivities of the Azores. Among many other things I had in mind the request to Holly God protection for the natural dangers I’ll be facing during my next trip to Norway.
27.May.2003-Bridgestone is sponsoring this trip regarding the supply of new tires.
29.May.2003-Yamaha Portugal, through is local dealer Horácio da Silva Garcia, is sponsoring this trip.
04.Jun.2003-Today our next trip to Norway story was the front page of the local newspaper "Diario dos Acores". You may find the article here.
06.Jun.2003-Insulartráfego, the Azores largest forwarding agent, Is sponsoring this trip by providing the transport of the bikes to and from Lisbon.
07.Jun.2003-Today I got the bike from Yamaha's local agent - Horácio da Silva Garcia - after a complete revision. Among other things I had the new tires and brake pads fited and the engine's oil and filter replaced. After washing the bike I placed our sponsors stickers, so the bike is ready for shipping to Lisbon by the local forwarding agent Insulartráfego on next Wednesday, June 11.
10.Jun.2003-Due to last minute ferry connection troubles between Denmark and Norway on June 21 we had to change our plans once again. No we shall take the ferry at Hanstholm (instead of Hirtshals), in Denmark, to Egersund (instead of Kristiansand) in Norway (see the new route maps).
11.Jun.2003-Our new adventure has formally started today after delivering the bikes at the forwarding agent Insulartrafego. The 3 bikes were stowed in a 40 feet container, duly conditioned in supporting cradles tied by stretches. The bikes will be shipped next Friday to Lisbon in one of Boxlines vessels, where they shall arrive next Monday. Follow the link for today’s delivery photo report »

NOTE: Our special thanks to our friends Henning Sunde and Hakon Blom for all the help they kindly provided regarding the planning of our 4 day tour in Norway.
